CHEO breaks into the Top 25 in national ranking of research hospitals

Ottawa, Ontario — Tuesday December 10, 2024

CHEO continues to climb the ranks of the Research Infosource list of the top research hospitals in Canada. With the continued growth and ongoing success of the CHEO Research Institute, CHEO placed 2nd in the Top 10 Winners circle for overall hospital research spending in 2023 and sixth for research intensity, among similar sized organizations.  

Rising two spots from the previous year, and placing 24th overall, CHEO has broken into the Top 25 of the Top 40 Research Hospitals 

This recognition reflects CHEO’s ongoing commitment to research excellence and growth that will continue to improve the lives of children and youth locally, nationally and globally.

The CHEO Research Institute is affiliated with the University of Ottawa, which ranked eighth nationally for research universities. 

CHEO and other research hospitals and institutes in Ottawa form the Ottawa Academic Health Network (OAHN), which is the second largest life science research ecosystem in Ontario and highly respected in Canada. The OAHN is a collaborative research powerhouse that is transforming lives, enhancing health care and creating jobs across Canada, thanks to the financial support our researchers receive from various sources of funding.
